How long does the small-group tour last?

Between 4 and 12 hours. We do not set a time limit: the guide keeps chasing, up to 350 km if needed, until you have seen and photographed the Northern Lights. Most nights end between midnight and 02:00.

Where does the tour start?

With pickup from your accommodation in central Rovaniemi, and drop-off afterwards. Send us your address after booking. Staying outside town? Ask us; we can often collect you or agree a meeting point.

What makes this tour small-group?

A maximum of 8 guests per guide in a comfortable minivan. That means flexible stops, time for everyone's photos and videos, and a guide who can change plans on the spot when the cloud or the aurora moves.

What should I wear on a Northern Lights tour?

Three layers: a merino or synthetic base layer, a fleece or wool mid layer and a windproof insulated outer layer, plus wool socks, a warm hat, a neck gaiter and mittens. Read our packing list for Lapland tours. Winter clothing is not provided on our Northern Lights tours, so please come dressed for the cold. No warm gear? Rent a winter clothing set in Rovaniemi from 39€ a day. There are hot drinks at every stop.

Are the photos really included?

Yes. Your guide photographs you under the aurora with professional DSLR equipment at no extra cost, and the photos are shared with you after the tour. Bring your own camera too: our aurora photography tips explain the settings.

Can children join the tour?

Yes, children are welcome on our aurora tours. The hunt runs late into the night and includes long stops outdoors, so dress them warmly and tell us their ages when booking.

What is the cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. If we cancel a tour ourselves because of weather or safety, you are refunded in full.

Which month is best for this tour?
